My renewal payment failed

Modified on Tue, 20 Oct at 11:28 PM

When a renewal payment fails, your plan shows Past Due. Update your card with Change payment method, then pay with Retry payment on your Subscription page.

To open that page, click the user icon at the top right, open Account and select Subscription. The Payment failed banner at the top of your dashboard takes you there too, with Go to Subscription.

Pay the failed renewal

  1. If your card expired or keeps being declined, click Change payment method and add another card.
  2. Click Retry payment. It opens the unpaid invoice so you can pay it.
  3. If you have more than one unpaid invoice, Retry payment opens Invoices instead. Click Pay now on each open invoice.

Once the payment goes through, your plan shows Paid again. While your plan is Past Due, we also retry your card automatically, and your show keeps working.

If a card that works elsewhere keeps failing, try another one. If that fails too, contact us and we'll check why the payment was declined. To change your card at any time, see How do I update my credit card?

What each status means

StatusWhat happenedWhat to do

If the payment keeps failing

If no payment goes through by the end of the retry period, your account goes into hibernation and your dashboard shows Your Account is Hibernated! Your show stays online for listeners and you can still see basic download stats, but you can't publish or edit until you bring your plan back.

  • If your status is Unpaid, pay the open invoice with Pay now under Invoices.
  • If your status is Deleted or Expired, click Restore subscription, check the plan and price, and click Restore plan. Add a working card with Change payment method first.

If your plan is one we no longer offer, restoring brings it back as the current plan that replaced it, at today's price. The Restore subscription window shows that plan and price before you confirm. See How do I reactivate or restore my podcast subscription?
