The status next to each directory on your Distribution tab tells you where that platform stands with your show: Processing while it reviews it, Active once it has it, and Error if it didn't accept it.
Statuses in Major Directories (Automatic Submission)
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Processing | We sent your show and the platform hasn't confirmed it yet. | Nothing. The status changes once the platform confirms your show. |
| Active | The platform has your show. New episodes reach it through your RSS feed. | Click the link icon next to the directory's name to open your listing. |
| Error | The platform didn't accept your show, or didn't confirm it. | Contact us with the directory's name, and we'll check what the platform reported. |
| Removal in progress | You removed your show from Spotify with its switch, and Spotify is taking it down. | Nothing. The status changes to Removed when Spotify finishes. |
| Removed | Your show is no longer on Spotify through RSS.com. | To submit it to Spotify again, contact us. |
Only Spotify shows the last two, because it's the one directory you can remove your show from here. To submit your show in the first place, see How to automatically submit my podcast to all podcast directories.
Why rows in Other Directories (Guided Submission) are blank
We don't submit your show to Deezer, iHeartRadio, Pandora or TuneIn, so we can't see whether it's listed there. Their rows stay blank until you add your listing. Once your show is live on one of them:
- Open that directory's row on the Distribution tab.
- In the last step, paste your show's URL on that platform.
- Click Save changes.
The row then shows Active, and your podcast website gets a button for that directory.
If you imported your show, all your directories sit in the Guided Submission section, because we assume your show is listed already. Paste each existing link the same way. See What's the difference between automatic and guided distribution?
Apps under Additional Apps (Automatic Listing) have no status. They list your show on their own once it's on Apple Podcasts or Podcast Index.
Listen Notes can read Processing or Error while your show is live
Listen Notes can list your show on its own, even while its row here reads Processing or Error. Search for your show on Listen Notes. If it's there, your show is live, and you can contact us with the link so we update the row.
Unclaimed on Apple Podcasts
Unclaimed shows next to Active on the Apple Podcasts Connect page, under Monetization, after you upload your Apple key. It means your show is live on Apple Podcasts but still sits under RSS.com's account there, so your key can't be linked to it yet. Claim the show in your own Apple Podcasts Connect account to finish. The Apple Podcasts row on the Distribution tab opens to the same claim steps. See How to claim your show on Apple Podcasts?
Apple Podcasts Connect is on Plus, Pro and Max. If you subscribed before our current plans, your paid plan includes it too.
Syncing with Apple on an episode
On the Episodes tab, an episode can show Syncing with Apple in place of its buttons. It appears while we deliver that episode to Apple Podcasts through your Apple key: a video episode on Max, or an Early access, Exclusive or Ad-free episode for Apple Podcasts Subscriptions. You can close the page while it syncs. The buttons come back once it's done.
If an early-access, exclusive or ad-free episode shows an error, see My episode failed to publish. If an episode stays on Syncing with Apple, contact us with the episode's link.
